Electrochem Automation Inc (EAI in abbreviation) was
founded in 1984 in California, U.S.A. for providing
battery testing instruments and production
equipments. At that time EAI provides lithium
and Nickel Metal Hydride battery technologies to
various battery manufacturers.
In 1994, Electrochem
Automation( Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was established
to manufacture
NEXcell®
rechargeable batteries, battery packs,
various quick chargers and solar energy system
to fulfill green world's needs.
With a spirit of continuous
innovation, EAI R&D team devotes all efforts to
developing advanced rechargeable batteries and
chargers to lead the market.
Our
products are distributed widely worldwide,
including America, Europe, Australia, Japan,
Taiwan and Southeastern Asia market. EAI
knows rechargeable batteries and chargers well and
would provide total power solution.

EAI's automatic cell production
line comprised by advanced U. S-made equipments
and continuous innovation of our experienced
battery engineers. The production process includes electrode fabrication, cell assembly, formation and inspection. |
Electrode
Fabrication |
Fully automatic
electrode fabrication lines use foam nickel,
expanded metal, or nickel plated porous steel
(NPPS)as the current collector for the nickel
hydroxide positive electrode and the metal
hydride alloy negative electrode. The electrode
line equipped with a proprietary coating head
for obtaining uniform coating of the electrode
material to achieve high cell capacity
distribution
and a high quality calendar roller for getting
dense packing of the electrode material to
achieve high cell capacity loading. |

Cell
Assembly |
Automatic cell assembly
lines produce various types of cylindrical
cells such as AAAA, AAA, AA, A, Sub-C, C, D, F,2
D
and 9V cells. The assembly line was
designed to take care key issues in
the cell assembly process as following:
low resistance electrode tabbing, round
winding form, electrode shorting prevention
and detection, accurate electrolyte
filling, rigid crimping. |

Formation
and Inspection |
CPU board controlled
automatic formation equipment uses four
probes method to get accurate sorting
of the cells. True voltage reading was
obtained by using sharp gold plated
Berilium copper pin. Well characterized
formation steps for each size of cells
ensure the cells to have complete formation
and to obtain their best cycle life
performance.
Aging of the cells is a plus for our
customers. After two to four weeks of
aging, cells were tested for open circuit
voltage and impedance. Appearance of
the cells will also be inspected before
shipping. |
